"Waiting on the Lord"\

There's a lesson to be learned
 In waiting on the Lord.
For in time comes understanding
 As we grow and trust His Word.
It cannot come from power
         Or in displays of force and might
But through the workings of  His Spirit
in the dark hours of the night.

Quartet Hairdo

 Oh, won't you give me a quartet hairdo
so I can sing for the Lord.
 Jus' got to have a quartet hairdo
to sing His praises in  one accord.
The kind that's all slicked back
and smooth on the side with a swoop and a ball cap bill.
Matching suits and high-heeled shoes
and I'm lookin' fit to kill!

I Care

How can I reach you?
How can I tell you?
How can I show you I care?
My arms are not long enough,
my voice is not strong enough,
my heart wants so much to share.

Here's how I'll reach you!
Here's how I'll tell you!
Here's how I'll show  you I care:
I'll tell you, Look to Jesus, my Saviour,
there's rest in His favor,
He's waiting your burdens to bear.

Excerpt Poem from
Today... In Anna's Garden
(A collection of 17 poems written for my granddaughter Anna)

Lightning Bugs

From my swing in Anna's Garden
I watch the sun go down
And as it does I see the flash
Of nature's little clowns.
~~~
They dart back and forth in front of me
Above and underneath...
And the only way I know they're here
Is by the flashes from their rear!!!
~~~
Today is their first appearance...
Today, the 6th of May
I'm sure they've quite a schedule
As they flash along their way.
~~~
What a treat they are to see
As I sit beneath this tree.
Flashing all along their way---
The lightning bug brigade.
~~~
What's that they're wearing?
Can't really tell from where I sit.
But if see I could, and up real close...
I think that this would be
The perfect little outfit
for these sparks of electricity:
~~~
Tiny little garments
in Navy, Brown and Black
Tailored special...just to fit
with a slit right up the back...
~~~
There they are...
I now can see...
Complete with belts and buttons
They're wearing TRENCHCOATS!!!
OH MY!!! OH ME!!!
