Cletus L. Mergatroyd was born out of B. Still's experiences while a part of the highly acclaimed Mississippi Medicine Show at the Natchez Little Theatre between 1983 and 1991. The Spring and Fall Pilgrimage in Natchez, MS offered 16 annual performances featuring various combinations of forty actors, singers, and musicians. Still played the role of "Riverboat Preacher" and found the MMS to be a form of "therapy" from the hectic and stressful work as a Mission Pastor and Minister of Music and Youth.
With the death of Dr. Morphineous Codeine Shingles (aka: Quida Colebank), the soul of the show sort of fizzled for "Cletus." B. Still opted to keep "Cletus" alive by assuming that identity to share his unique blend of Christian humor, antics, music and laughter with audiences all over Mississippi, South Alabama...and even once in the little English village of Chrishall, near London.
You can book "Cletus" for your gathering by contacting Rev. Benny Still at 251-865-6520, 251-554-5265 or by writing him at P.O. Box 607, Grand Bay, AL 36541.
